A homeless man was stopped in his car by police officers and had three kids in the back seat without car seats. The police man could've given the man three seperate tickets for not having kids in their car seats but instead he decided to help the man. The policeman had heard that this man was living in his car trying to save up money to but a house. With a 1, 3, and 4 year old that would be pretty difficult. The cop knew this so he and one other policeman went to Wal-mart and bought the man three car seats.
This relates to our class because we are always talking about the effects government and government officials have on the people. The race wars and riots about police brutality we've learned about in class could be helped with more acts of kindness by police like this one. I think what these cops did was borderline heroic. They not only saved the man from costly tickets but went above and beyond to help the man.
The cops did a very nice and thoughtful thing. I think its good for people to know that cops do things like this.
ReplyDeleteThere has been so much negativity in the media recently surrounding cops that it is refreshing to hear such a positive story. Racial profiling is a huge issue that all cops come under scrutiny for but as an American I think we should better support those that keep us safe rather than criticize their every move.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eleni a lot of media attention towards cops have been negative recently but this shows how such a small act of kindness can help a lot. Its good for people to hear the good stories and not just the bad.
