Poll: Clinton, Carson Tied in Head-to-Head Race

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson does best among the 2016 GOP field against Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical general election race.  This means that if the two ran against each other for the candidacy it is basically a coin flip.  This is positive news for Carson because he holds a pretty large lead over the other candidates in this poll.  The NBC/Wall Street Journal GOP horse race survey -- with four days of interviews conducted before last week's Republican debate and one afterward -- shows Carson leading with 29% to Trump's 23%. Rubio is in third place with 11%.  With a solid lead over fellow Republicans in both of these polls, it looks like Carson is in a good spot right now.

This relates to our class because we constantly talk about the Presidential race.  We have been able to witness Trump fall from the favorite down to 6% under his Republican opposition.  I think this is very good news because Carson would be a better fit in the White House than Trump.  I am also pleased that Carson is even with Clinton.  They are both highly qualified and would probably both do well leading this country but they have very different views.  The article says that Carson is hanging with Clinton because of his large support from independent voters.

  1. It is interesting that the independent voters support Carson. Independent voters usually don't lead in swaying the national vote but play a role in who wins the election and what issues are presented among top candidates.
